“All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.“
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
Growing up, my mum was a librarian. You can’t even begin to imagine the perks of being a librarian’s daughter! I would spend hours in the back room, curled up in a stack of cushions and bean bags, reading my way through a stack of books yet to make it to the shelf. Occasionally, books would be donated, and lucky ol’ me got to have first dibs on whatever I found lurking in the cardboard boxes.
I remember, quite distinctly the day I came across ‘The Little Prince’. Like many (many!) children out there, the book simply seemed to speak to me. To this day, it’s still one of my favourites, and I will sometimes find myself thinking of the golden haired prince as I look up at the stars. It makes me beyond happy that I can proudly wear one of my very favourite books on a daily basis. Now I just need to save up for the Hungry Caterpillar t-shirt – a favourite from childhood, and one I read (often!) with the little children I work with.
