So, here’s some exciting news! I was recently contacted by my favourite website ever (Modcloth!) to create an Autumn inspired outfit. As most of my blog readers are based in America I figured that hey, this actually makes sense, let’s do it. After all, who else finds it really weird that we are experiencing completely opposite seasons right now? Crazy!
I felt like this would be the perfect outfit for walking through leaves – the extra crunchy ones of course – and holding hands on a long walk through a tree-lined park. And in everybody’s favourite hour (the golden kind, duh!) settling down for a mulled cider, all wrapped up in a cute cardigan – I’m thinking this fox print number. Gosh, I love you spring, but Autumn you sure are my favourite!
Mmm, bicycles, I really do love you. In all honesty, I am quite terrible at cycling. When I was a kid I fell (face first!) off the front of my bike going down a hill. I had been dared to ride with no hands and put my feet on the handlebars. Never one to resist a dare, I gave it my best.. the results weren’t quite so great! Years later, I’m still not the best at biking, but I love it still. I’m envisioning endless bicycle rides this summer, with pretty outfits to match. I honestly can’t wait! (Though I’ll keep my hands on the handlebars this time, I promise!)
Maybe it’s just the ol’ baby blues, but this seems like the perfect outfit to wear for a cycling session to the beach. The flower crown is the ultimate touch of summer, and just the thing for finishing off the look. Plus, I am so so so in love with this dress. The hemline detail is the sweetest ever, and the bow is gorgeous!
Okay, first up, I am literally swooning over this bicycle tote bag. Just the perfect tool for carrying picnic goods, right? The reviews on Modcloth mostly seem to say that it is a whole lot more enormous than it appears. Fantastic. All the more room for sandwiches and treats! Nom nom. Oh, and I love the wire headband for keepin’ that windswept hair off the face.
I’ve always been a bit of a fan of fruit on clothing (err, weird much?) but every now and then the obsession grows just a little. This time around, it might have something to do with the arrival of a strawberry and peach print dress, combined with all of Alix‘s adventures wearing beautiful pineapple motif clothing. Whatever the reason, fruit is becoming a bit of a staple for me. Hey, it’s easy on the eyes and on the lips – what’s not to love, eh? Here are a bunch (pardon the pun… not!) of my favourites, and where you might like to wear them. Enjoy!
First up, can I just say how much I love this skirt?! The gingham print is so reminiscent of vintage table cloths (in the best way possible, of course!) and I love the subtle pineapple, pear, and grape print. Super cute! Pair it with a lace crop and vintage inspired red shoes. P.s. I am beyond in love with this hungry caterpillar tote! It was my favourite book as a child, though let’s be honest – it’s the same for everyone, right?
A first date is a night to impress, right? Well, you can’t go better than wearing this oh-so flattering pineapple print bodycon. The fit looks incredible; perfect for showing off your curves. Pair it with a matching pineapple necklace and tie your hair into a high-up ponytail. Finish it all off with yellow heels. Right, now I think you should suggest that your date takes place on an island paradise, don’t you?
It’s happened. I’ve become a ‘skirt person’. Sure, it would decide to happen right when I move to one of the windiest cities in the world, but hey, that’s fine. I think I love ‘em so much purely based on the amazing prints and patterns they come in. My ol’ favourite, shorts, can look a bit odd sometimes when they’re too pattern-y, but somehow skirts pull it off. Just take a look at this curated list of some of my faves. There’s one for every occasion, don’t you think?
I’ve loved Anna J‘s art for years – ever since she kindly did a sketch of a fox for me (thanks Anna!) The one above is one of my favourites of her artworks; isn’t it adorable?! She’s a talented lady from New Zealand, and is hugely passionate about animals, and is even a foster parent for greyhounds. Seriously, she’s the best!
This dark knight bookshelf is one of the coolest things I’ve seen… ever! It’s sadly been sold out for quite some time, but a girl can dream, eh?
A blogger I have long admired; Ale, has released her first ever clothing collection – Rosaspina Vintage Handmade. As beautiful as the clothing pieces are, I also adore the story behind the collection. Ale designed the clothing, her mother sewed them, and the fabric is from the 1950s and 1960s and was generously donated by Ale’s grandmother. It’s such an incredible labour of love, and the results truly couldn’t be more beautiful!
These macaron boxes are adorable, no? I definitely need to get a-hold of a couple of them, just to keep my jewellery collection in check!
This bicycle print top by Modcloth has me swooning! I’m hoping for a warm weekend so I can cycle around the ocean front with my guy – and if I owned this top it would be even more fun. ♥
Ever seen something (non food related, of course!) that looks SO good that you could eat it? Well, if not, prepare to feast your eyes upon this delicious selection of clothing that will have you daydreaming all day long about ice cream adventures. Err, Jo, where exactly would I wear them?! (I can hear you asking already!) Fear not, I’ve done the work for you, and dreamt up the perfect scenarios to go along with these mouth-watering goodies. First up is the Sundae Dressed Sweater, which you can see above. Yum!
There’s no denying it; dates are scary, nerve-wracking, exciting, worrying – yep, all of the above. It always helps to have your outfit planned beforehand – and this one is the sweetest. Pastel colours will show off your girly side, and the cute accessories are the perfect accent! Oh, and if he asks you to choose the location – please please please ask for a ice cream bar.Yum!
A cosy day at home. Who doesn’t love ‘em?! Personally, I like setting my time aside for some good ol’ internet browsing, a spot of baking, and just general all-round lounging. Clearly, home days are all about comfort. That’s why, along with this sugary sweet outfit, I showed off a few homeware goodies. Including this adorable ice cream sandwich pillow. Want want want!
Never before have I wanted a dress so badly in my life! Skeleton print and glow-in-the-dark? Yes yes yes! I am so sad that this has sold out. I will be anxiously refreshing the page until it’s back in stock!
Barnaby thought these were a bit creepy – but I fell in love with each and every one of these painted buildings! (He’s probably just worried that I’d do it to our future house… which I totally would!) Which one is your favourite?
I swear it is impossible to feel glum when you’re wearing heart print! I wore this dress a couple of days ago when I was going to a big meeting. I was super nervous!
Not that it’ll happen anytime soon, but I am severely lusting over a classic quilted Chanel designer handbag – like this one from Cruise Fashion. I wish!
These Hello Sunshine flats are some of the sweetest shoes I’ve ever seen! Luckily, they just so happen to be on their way to my mailbox..! ; )
Carey Mulligan’s spread for Harper’s Bazaar is seriously gorgeous! I love Carey. She seems like such a sweet person!
A speaker picnic blanket sounds like the best thing in the world. Now, if only New Zealand wasn’t going into winter! Oh well, even more reason to be excited for spring, I suppose!
Happy St Patrick’s day! I’ve always loved this day – mostly because of my massive love for the colour green! Plus, I really wanted an excuse to show off the vintage shamrock print blouse that I thrifted a few months back. As a little ode to St Paddy, I’ve selected a bunch of my favourite emerald coloured goodies. Just take a glance below!
Oh, and just so you have an exciting fact to share on St Patrick’s – how about this?! The Guinness world record for most leafs found on a clover is twenty-one!! Just imagine how much luck that would bring, eh!
As we inch closer and closer to the colder seasons here in New Zealand, I am getting more and more excited about the prospect of wearing boots (an obsession that may have started due to these ankle boots - swoon!) Every morning, it gets a little bit harder to get out of bed – and a whole lot harder to get out of the shower. Naturally, with the looming burst of cold, I’ve been feeling more and more tempted to put away my summertime clogs, and start reaching for footwear that offers a little more warmth. I’ve always loved the look of boots paired with a perfect pair of tights. It makes your legs look even thinner – a definite plus when you don’t have the skinniest legs ever – um, hi there! Above are some of my favourites – and what tights I would pair them with! Here’s to some wintertime inspiration, eh!
Mmm, love is in the air..! Dontcha just feel it?! To kick off Valentines week, I’ve curated a list of super-appropriate (and highly adorable!) heart shaped goodies. I am feeling so so so loved up this week, and want to reflect it in everything I do, whether it’s cooking with a heart shaped spatula or using this mug for a hot cuppa. My complete favourite is definitely the heart elbow patch sweater. I can so imagine wearing it with a pair of cute Ray Bans on a picnic date. Are you doing anything special for the big day? I’m hoping for a quiet night in with a good movie and yummy food. Oh, and of course, with my special guy too!
