The City of Sails

I’m back home after a whirlwind four days in the big smoke, Auckland. We went up to express our inner teeny boppers by attending the Katy Perry concert! It was a truly wonderful trip. We stayed at the Hilton (!!) which is on the waterfront. The Auckland Hilton is truly spectacular – it was built to look like a giant ship! For a nautical enthusiast like me, it was simply heaven! We had an amazing view over the ocean, and boats were constantly going past. Barnaby and I were constantly calling one another to the balcony to look at all of the different sea vessels! And to top it all off it turns out Katy was staying in the room above us! We tried to be discrete stalkers, and came up with countless reasons to visit the lobby or go on the lifts, but to no avail; no Katy was found! Boo!

We took so many photographs on our mini holiday. So many in fact, that this post will have to be split into two I think! Here are some pretty things that were noticed in New Zealand’s biggest city:

Open Wide, Come Inside

Tomorrow I’m hopping on a plane to make my way to Auckland for four days. I’m ridiculously excited! Auckland has such wonderful vintage shops, I can’t wait to see what I might find! Being the organization freak that I am, I have already packed my bags (of course!) Here are my essentials for my four day excursion to the big city:

A Thick Scarf

Auckland is known for it’s fast changing weather, so I have to make sure I’m ready to brave all of the elements! Going into Winter, the temperature is dropping steadily, so I have packed my wonderfully warm faux fur scarf by ASOS.

Something Glitzy

And in this case it’s a hot pink tasseled dress straight out of the 80s! When I bought this dress about a year ago, all of the tassels were badly frayed. I actually spent about a week tying them all off! My fingers were so achy by the end of it – but the dress looks wonderful!

Sturdy Shoes

I’m notorious for my love of walking while away from home! I’ve packed my trusty grey ASOS brogues to get the job done! They are so comfortable and keep my feet feeling nice and happy. I love wearing them with white frilly socks.

Cute Embroidery

I am so influenced by the 1970s as of late! I picked up this vintage beauty yesterday. I love the retro embroidery; it is so cute! I can’t wait to show you photographs of the dress in full – it really is adorable!

Tortoiseshell Sunglasses

Sunglasses are always an essential! As I said, the weather is ever changing in Auckland; a girl has to be prepared!

Now I just have to figure out how to close my suitcase! Eek!
