Open Wide, Come Inside

Tomorrow I’m hopping on a plane to make my way to Auckland for four days. I’m ridiculously excited! Auckland has such wonderful vintage shops, I can’t wait to see what I might find! Being the organization freak that I am, I have already packed my bags (of course!) Here are my essentials for my four day excursion to the big city:

A Thick Scarf

Auckland is known for it’s fast changing weather, so I have to make sure I’m ready to brave all of the elements! Going into Winter, the temperature is dropping steadily, so I have packed my wonderfully warm faux fur scarf by ASOS.

Something Glitzy

And in this case it’s a hot pink tasseled dress straight out of the 80s! When I bought this dress about a year ago, all of the tassels were badly frayed. I actually spent about a week tying them all off! My fingers were so achy by the end of it – but the dress looks wonderful!

Sturdy Shoes

I’m notorious for my love of walking while away from home! I’ve packed my trusty grey ASOS brogues to get the job done! They are so comfortable and keep my feet feeling nice and happy. I love wearing them with white frilly socks.

Cute Embroidery

I am so influenced by the 1970s as of late! I picked up this vintage beauty yesterday. I love the retro embroidery; it is so cute! I can’t wait to show you photographs of the dress in full – it really is adorable!

Tortoiseshell Sunglasses

Sunglasses are always an essential! As I said, the weather is ever changing in Auckland; a girl has to be prepared!

Now I just have to figure out how to close my suitcase! Eek!

Around the block we go!

Oh, these old things? These are my beautiful white and pink rollerskates. I bought them with money I received on my birthday. I have been so excited waiting for them to arrive, so took them out for a spin immediately. I hadn’t realized that they would be so much trickier than rollerblades! I’ll definitely have to invest in some knee pads – ouch!

We ventured further than just round the block today; we actually drove through the edge of Christchurch city for the first time in a few months.  It is very bizarre seeing massive buildings reduced to piles of rubble. The building below is the Christchurch Basilica. It is absolutely beautiful – and I’m not sure whether they are going to be able to save it or not. Here’s me crossing my fingers!

On a lighter note…
