Hello, Deer

Finally, the Christmas spirit has hit me! I think it may have something to do with this beautiful deer-print dress; sent to me courtesy of Snoozer Loser. Here in New Zealand, December is actually Summer – and Christmas day always seems to be especially hot! Though I love to over-eat and grow sleepy in the afternoon sunlight, I do sometimes long for a cold Christmas spent drinking cocoa and unwrapping presents in a douvet fort! I’m especially envious of the idea of having a Christmas wardrobe staple. It’s definitely my cheesy side appearing; but I think a silly snowman sweater sounds like true perfection! I’ve long accepted that Christmas in Christchurch is no time for a jumper (even if you run a blog!), so I’m thrilled to have my own special dress to wear on the day. The length is short enough to keep me cool, and the (rein)deer print brings out my Christmas side! Hooray!

  1. :O Too hot?! In Christchurch? It’s never warm enough here! Although…actually I heard it was really warm last year but I was in Brisbane as it poured with rain :(

I’m afraid I’m hoping for at least a 25 degree day this year. It’s not meant to be, but I’m hoping. I love hot Christmas days!

Your dress is pretty awesome though. I hope you can wear it on our super hot Christmas. Just roll the sleeves up 😉

  2. To me it’s so funny for it to be summer around Christmas time. I mean, if you grew up there, you’re used to it, but for me, Christmas equals chapped lips and frozen fingers! Lovely dress though :) And I personally think Christmas sweaters can be very stylish!

Your dress is adorable and I love the shade of your lipstick :) Also, it’s lovely to find another blogger that lives in the antipodes and is celebrating Christmas in summer, so comforting hehe.

  5. If it makes you feel any better. I’ve experience many a hot Christmas day. Almost 80 degrees in some cases and I live in Virginia in the US. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas unless I can have a fire in the fireplace.

And by the way, that dress is amazing!!! I totally love the print and the shape of the dress.

  7. Aw, that dress is SO cute! I’m always torn about Christmas weather too… I love our scorching Aussie Christmases but I do sometimes long for a snuggly white Christmas, cozying up next to the fireplace with hot chocolate… Oh, it does sound lovely!

  8. Your dress is darling! And, very holiday appropriate. I’d like to experience a southern hemisphere Christmas at least once in my life just for something different. Maybe some day we’ll each get our respective wishes!

    Merry Christmas, Jo!

  9. Been browsing through your blog and it is lovely! Your taste in clothing is very similar to mine; love vintage. The dress is darling. The print reminds me more so of the 50s, when the fabrics for women were so whimsical and fun. Pairing it with a bowler hat is such a charming touch, too. A side note, I’d love to visit New Zealand some day and yes this is heavily influenced by LOTR, haha.
