Feeling like a Post Lady!

I love rediscovering misplaced goodies! My vintage envelope clutch went missing years ago – until I found it last week, lurking inside a suitcase! I’ve been carting it around everywhere with me; the only problem is that it doesn’t fit terribly much inside of it. I can definitely deal with being slightly impractical – especially when it comes in such a sweet envelope-shaped form! I couldn’t resist pairing it with my recent 1960s purchase; a bracelet with duck and deer shaped pendants. My love of ducks is pretty apparent (I even had them as pets growing up – five at one point!) so I am truly ecstatic that I can showcase it to the world! Absolutely everything I’m wearing is vintage, with the exception of the ever-wonderful Lotta From Stockholm clogs.

The postie vibe was ever-present today, and I found myself (several times!) completely immersed in humming the Postman Pat theme tune. I used to own a whole bunch of episodes on video, and it was my favourite thing to watch at the weekend! Even nowadays, I am completely besotted with claymation. I only wish I had more patience to try it myself!

Courtesy of United Styles!

I have been so so so excited about this giveaway! United Styles contacted me a while back, asking if I’d like to design my own dress! Of course I jumped at the chance – what a fun opportunity! I dreamed up the checkered yellow dress you see above; it’s now one of my wardrobe staples. But United Styles didn’t stop there; they are also giving one lucky Lost in the Haze reader the chance to win their own custom designed dress! And even more generously; two runner ups will receive a $30 voucher towards their own creation! All you have to do is design your dream frock! You can see some pretty designs I thought of above – I just can’t get enough of bold prints!

Bowler Hats in Blue

Today, I think I found my new favourite park. Barnaby and I started our day with a driving adventure to take some photographs. We were both feeling completely uninspired by our first choice, so decided to venture further – and stumbled upon pure gold! We wandered down twisting gravel pathways, with bare trees looming overhead; what bliss! I also couldn’t resist sharing the cute wee photograph that Barnaby snapped of the two sparrows on the fence! They had been hopping from pole to pole; one was trying to cuddle, but the other wasn’t having any of it! It was too cute!

It’s completely bizarre that I’ve never worn my tiger skirt on Lost in the Haze before. It is one of my all-time favourite pieces! It was originally a frumpy 90s dress, which my mum had altered into a skirt. I own so many electric blue pieces; including my bowler hat, so it is especially easy to accessorize! The pan collared blouse I’m wearing was from the same thrifting excursion! I paired it with an Elsie Belle bunny necklace, and an ASOS glitter top.

Frilly Socks Paired with Pinafores!

Everyone has their fashion week favourites, and this year mine is Orla Kiely. I’ve always held a fondness for pinafores; and Orla has definitely brought it back! I felt so inspired after seeing the Autumn Winter collection, so what luck (!) that I spied a plaid pinafore amongst the dresses during my latest thrifting spree. It even has a somewhat silly crochet flower in the middle, which I not-so-secretly love! Oversized collars are key, so I paired the pinafore with the For the Right Moment Dress, courtesy of Modcloth. My brogues and frilly socks were both from ASOS.

We spent our Saturday beside the river, where both Barnaby and I spotted a trout! We were so incredibly excited to share the news, but soon found out that it is a pretty regular occurrence. Whoops! We had other odd animal adventures today; we shooed a cicada and a bumble bee out of the house using a tea cup and saucer, and we discovered a caterpillar’s cocoon inside a washing line peg. Cute cute cute!

My Top Three Sunglasses!

Here’s something slightly different! Today, I wanted to show you some of my sunglasses collection! It is ever-growing, and my sunglasses are always strewn throughout the house – with me occasionally sitting on and breaking them; whoops! Pair one and two are both sneaky ASOS purchases, and pair three were courtesy of Sunglasses Shop. My favourite shapes are cat eye and round, though I am also partial to classic Wayfarers. I love feeling like someone else depending on my eyewear; sometimes it’s a 1960s bombshell, other times a mad scientist (I bet you can guess which pair is which!)

Umbrella Weather!

As if it knew about my recent umbrella brooch purchase, the weather in my fair city has erupted into overcast skies and drizzle. I love the lushness that rain brings – it makes all of my favourite evergreen parks look even more wonderful! During a pause in the rain, we quickly ventured to my favourite place ever; the ‘secret park’ as I like to call it. You know by now just how much I love visiting ducks, and today were even greeted by a Labrador swimming in the river – I don’t know which of us looked more startled! The flowers are looking so incredible at the moment. There is a flower festival early next month; and I am definitely hoping for a ticket. What girl doesn’t love flowers? Especially after the Valentines rush!

I combated the puddles with my grey ASOS brogues. My dress and brooch were both vintage. I don’t usually wear much red, but have recently become hooked on matching it to my ruby lipstick. My hair was plaited into a Heidi braid – the perfect way to battle the ever-looming rainy day frizz!

Perfect for a Lazy Day!

I have been such a busybody this week! Never ever have I felt so incredibly grateful for the weekend; I only wish it was longer! To celebrate a day off, and sunny weather too, we ventured out for an afternoon walk. The dress I’m wearing was courtesy of United Styles – and actually designed by me! I adore 1960s fashion, so tried to encompass it in my design through adding a white pan collar and matching sleeves. Yellow is my favourite colour ever, and I was smitten with the print. It reminds me of hot weather and summery picnics; so I was sure to accessorize it with a Modcloth peanut butter and jam (jelly!) sandwich wallet. My opaque white tights are from ASOS, and the bag is a vintage Kodak. I wore 1980s boater shoes which were so perfect for tiptoeing through the still-wet grass; pure bliss!

Scouting Jewellery at Riccarton Market!

I had such a terrific weekend! My friend, Siobhan, joined us on a visit to the local market. I woke up in an incredible mood, and with the Brady Bunch theme song in my head – yes, I know every word! It obviously transferred through to my wardrobe choices, as I wore a mustard-coloured late 1960s button down top paired with Free People velvet dungarees. After hours of gazing at the many many many stalls, I finally purchased some treasures from a woman selling her collection of costume jewellery. I picked up an umbrella brooch, and a genuine 60s Formica-esque bracelet with deer shaped pendants. I’ll definitely be paying the woman several visits in the future; she had so many goodies!

Silver & Blue!

I periodically wear my pale blue vintage dress; especially during the end of Summer, when the weather begins to turn. I’m all about the matching colours recently, so couldn’t resist putting on my pale blue beret! I am so drawn to silver lately, and thus have found my new favourite colour combination – of course, finishing the look with a swipe of red lipstick. We spent our morning on weird adventures; visiting mysterious garages in search of computer parts. I love escaping the city though, so it was lovely to go on an extended drive. I wore Silver and Brogue flats courtesy of Modcloth, and the bag was a gift from my Mum. It has a really bizarre opening, and makes me feel like a true 1920s girl visiting the opera or other fancy shindigs! The dress and beret are both vintage.

After removing my lipstick so I could eat a sandwich lunch stain-free (!) I happened to stumble upon a beautiful dandelion. Barnaby managed to capture the shot so perfectly, but I do wish I had been wearing my scarlet lips – drat! I did remember to make a wish though, so here’s hoping it comes true! P.s. Lastly, I also wanted to mention that our recent sidebar sponsor Dame Jolie is offering a 10% discount to Lost in the Haze readers with the discount code LITH10!
