A Mod In Orange

Are you crazy about fashion in the 1960s? I sure am! I was so excited when Carole of the wonderful Bitter Root Vintage contacted me about giving away a beautiful 1960s orange corduroy dress. I am completely in the love with the dress! It has amazing button detail on both the neckline and back. I love the short length too; it completely captures the essence of the 60s! Carole was also lovely enough to offer a discount code! Enter lostinthehaze at the checkout for an additional 10% off! Country Girl!

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the past week pet-sitting a huge bunch of (wonderful!) animals. Today we took another trip to feed the horse, and Snow; the sheep. I am completely living up to my NZ reputation, but I am besotted with sheep! Aren’t they lovely! Horses have always made me slightly nervous, but today I finally braved up enough to be on hay feeding duties. A personal victory, hooray!

I wore a top that a friend made me! It truly is the cutest; she even embroidered a tag! The necklace I’m wearing was courtesy of Lotta Losten. Lotta was such a delight; even sending a necklace shaped like a sunflower because they are my favourite!

Sunday Best!

Today we had the first proper spring shower of the season. Rather than mope inside, I instead put on my beautiful lace dress courtesy of Salvage Life. You know how crazy I am about peter pan collars, so I decided to pin my hair into a faux bob so I could show it off to the world! I had a wonderfully lazy Sunday spent painting my nails with pink glitter polish and walking Barnaby’s dogs. Perfect!

Also, a big congratulations to Alice on winning the Cutie Pie necklace!

Volume, Volume, Volume!

By now I’m sure you’ve seen the Mulberry SS12 collection. I was swooning over the scalloped edges, and am now convinced that I need more nude in my wardrobe. I was especially captivated by the hair! Volume reigned supreme, and the models were all sporting the most impressive beehives. I decided to channel the teased Mulberry hair (and centre part!) for myself today. Nothing is quite as fun as a beehive; I love the extra height!

Spring

Here in New Zealand, spring has just begun! I am very much a spring person. I really dislike being cold, so it is always such a relief when the sun starts shining again! Spring leaves me feeling inspired and with a want to wear flowers in my hair; so I did! I braided my hair into a Heidi style and used bobby pins to secure flowers into it. I wear shorts all year round (this outfit included!) and it is a wonderful feeling when my legs are truly warm because the sun is out again! To finish off the outfit I wore my wooden frog brooch. Spring always gets me thinking about animals, so I wanted to bring that into the outfit, thanks frog!

Autumn

As mentioned, I’m a notorious year-round shorts wearer! For an Autumn look I stuck to shades of dark green. Autumn usually leaves me with ridiculously cold ears, so I chose to leave my hair down and wear a bowler. In the colder seasons I’m sometimes left longing for colour, so I finished off the look with the brightest red lipstick I could fine!

Pixie Goes Sailing

I could scarcely believe my luck the other week when Nadia of Nadinoo emailed to tell me I’d won the Pixie Goes Sailing dress. Nadinoo has been a long-time favourite brand of mine, and the dress I won was actually my favourite piece! I’ve been wearing the dress virtually non-stop since it’s arrival, and I knew it was perfect for a visit to see the newly blossomed trees at the park! I am still amazed at the quality of the dress; Nadinoo really do have the softest fabrics! I truly can’t wait for the AW11 collection, Nadinoo never disapoints!

Featuring Picture Perfect Scenery!

This weekend I was lucky enough to be treated to a day out with my friend, Alex. We drove his classic Triumph Herald over the Christchurch hills to a secluded beach in Rapaki. It has been a considerable amount of time since I last drove on the hills, so it was truly was a wonderful adventure! The beach we visited even had a homemade swing; I could hardly believe my luck!

I wore the same dress as in the giveaway post. I thrifted it several days ago from my favourite vintage store. It has the most darling off-centre pan collar; but my hair is determined to obscure it!

Featuring Ducks Galore!

Today was the perfect weather for an adventure; so we did just that! Barnaby and I went on a massive two hour walk which led us straight through the biggest park in Christchurch. There were ducks simply everywhere! I am an absolute fanatic – I had ducks as pets, so I hold a soft spot for them. They were lurking behind trees, in the fountains, and one was even napping in a flower bed – though it moved before we could snap a photograph!

I wore a vintage sailor top and shorts. I am so happy that the sun is shining! I love the first springtime feeling of being able to bare my arms again after winter!

Indigo Adventure

I have exciting news! We’ve just set up The Grading Room; a pop up shop where you can purchase exclusive Lost in the Haze Photoshop actions. Barnaby truly is the ultimate colour expert, and I was so glad that he was willing to share! Photoshop actions are ridiculously easy to use; you just apply them over your photographs. I am so excited to share a selection of my favourite actions with you, though there are many more in store! Click on the photographs to visit the shop! (You can also view before and after shots!)

Fields of Daffodils

This action focuses on bringing out a beautiful 1970s-esque yellow luminosity. It truly is instant happiness, and can produces wonderful buttercup tones. Fields of Daffodils has a vintage film look, and makes any photograph look like blissful summer!

Midnight Moss

Midnight Moss is all about the green and brown shades! It is ideal for achieving forest tones, making you feel like a woodland elf! It makes the black tones extra dark, which completely sucks you into the photograph.

Fern River

Fern River is the ultimate whimsical Photoshop action. It helps to create an ethereal look to your photograph, by bringing out faded red and purple shades. It is reminiscent of vintage camera film, but without the developing time!

Deep Purple

Deep Purple is my absolute favourite action of them all! It focuses on the different shades of brown, mauve, and purple. It de-saturates the photographs, giving them a very ‘woodland’ feel, while still producing wonderfully dark shadows.

I wore a 1980s shirt which is covered in tiny embroidered zebras! The harmonica necklace I wore was courtesy of the lovely Wallpaper Rose. You can use the code LOSTINTHEHAZE to receive 10% off your jewelry order – thanks Louise!
